Reginald B. Blaylock is assistant director at the Thad Cochran Marine Aquaculture Center and research professor (Coastal Sciences) at the University of Southern Mississippi, Ocean Springs, Mississippi. Blaylock holds a B. S. (Biology) from Wake Forest University, a M.S. (Biology) from the University of Texas at El Paso, and a Ph.D. (Biological Sciences) from the University of Alberta.
His training and work in the ecology and epidemiology of fish diseases and parasites connected him with aquaculture where he works to alleviate the biological and technical bottlenecks constraining the development of marine aquaculture. He has served as associate editor of the Journal of Parasitology, president of the Southeastern Society of Parasitology, and board member and secretary-treasurer of the U.S. Aquaculture Society. He received the U.S. Aquaculture Society’s Distinguished Service Award in 2017.
